Native to Europe and Asian woodland and grassland areas, red deer are reddish brown in color and twice as large as their cousins the fallow deer, but with a more docile disposition. Females lack antlers and live in large herds with their offspring, while the males live alone or roam in alternating groups. Red deer are raised on farms throughout the world and are used in Asia for their antler velvet and in Europe for their hides and meat.
