Native to India, the nilgai or "Blue Bull of India" subsists on a diet of grasses and small plants. This member of the antelope family resides in grassland habitats and is related to the deer, camel, giraffe and cattle. The nilgai's coloring, size and horn dimensions vary greatly among the antelope family. Antelopes have lived in Africa and Eurasia for as long as 65 million years. They make no permanent shelter, but roam over vast areas of the savannahs and plains in large herds. They are fast runners and can leap great distances when pursued by predators
